The North Pennines AONB is another beautiful area that is worth visiting. The region is known for its rugged landscapes, rolling hills, and picturesque villages. The area is home to the highest village in England, Alston, and is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists. The area is also known for its mining history and visitors can explore the remains of old lead and zinc mines and learn about the history of mining in the area.

The West Cumbrian coast is also an area worth visiting, it is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with miles of unspoilt coastline, picturesque villages and bustling towns. Visitors can also explore the West Cumbrian coast's rich maritime heritage, including the port of Whitehaven, and the nuclear heritage of Sellafield.

All of these areas offer a wide range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, climbing, cycling, and fishing. There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy the local wildlife, including red deer, red squirrels, and a wide variety of bird species.
